CWC Poetry Slam

CWC is having a poetry slam on the 5th of October. This event is open to CWC members, non-members and the wider community! Rally your pals to come and take part. The door prize goes to the winner!

 

Poetry Slam

Location: the TAV
Time: 4:30 - 6:30 PM

 

The door fee is $5 for members, and $7 for non-members.

 

Sign-ups are from 4:30 PM, for poets to take the stage at 5:00 PM.

 

The winning slammer will receive $100 as a prize!

 

Poetry Workshops

Now is the time to be pulling out your poetry skills! To help you prep your work and understand the mechanics of slam poetry, Kai Schweizer is running poetry workshops.

 

Kai is a suicide intervention and crisis management specialist, peer mental health worker, educator, and LGBTIQ+ advocate. He uses his lived experience of homelessness, transience, domestic violence and mental health issues as a gender diverse person to inform his work. He is also a published writer, three-time Perth Poetry Slam champion, and current WA representative for National Australian Poetry Slam 2017.

 

He has won first place at the WA Poets Inc. Vic Park Slam and the February Perth Slam 2017, second place at the September Perth Slam 2016, and third place at the April Perth Slam 2016. His piece "Sacrificial" that won the March Slam (CW: murder, rape, suicide).

 

The workshops are during common-free time (12:00 - 2:00 PM) at Clubs HQ.
